Native to the central Pacific regions of the Americas, these very popular shrimp now farmed dominate farming in Thailand and throughout tropical Asia.
Firm texture, attractive uniform light reddish-orange colour, and mild sweet flavour.
Store chilled in ice or refrigerator (0-5 C) until ready to cook. Consume within 2-3 days. Do not freeze.
Extremely versatile. Cooking whole provides more of the flavour and colour from the shell. BBQ, grill, boil in salt water, peel and pan-fry in butter and garlic, add to Tom Yum or to seafood pasta dish. Overcooking will make shrimp tough. DO NOT OVERCOOK
